In my previous EP, Haze Project Vol. I, I focused on learning my modular system and incorporating it as much as possible into sound design and idea generation for the compositions. I was somewhat pleased with the results, but in reality, most of the work still happened in the DAW, as usual. Poor module selection and my limited knowledge at the time were key factors in that outcome.
For this new project, I didn't pressure myself to feature the modular in every song or make it the dominant element in any section. Instead, I returned to Renoise for most of the writing, which reignited my passion for it—especially since it pairs so well with the MacBook Air. Most tracks were composed using the built-in speakers, so I prioritized mangling loops, advancing arrangements, and avoiding overcomplicated layers that weren't essential to the core ideas. The end result is a minimal EP built on classic IDM-inspired structures and simple tones.
