First Lamp — Neon Tidewater (single 46) Outbound arc, chapter III — the dark shore, and the strike. Open Water ended in a clean, wide calm: she'd learned to steer by the stars once the harbor light went under the horizon behind her. This is where the passage finally lands. Nights out from home she sights a new coast — and it is utterly dark. No lamp, no quay, no answering flame: a shore no one ever thought to light. And this is exactly the far dark shore she set out from home to become the far sail for. So she lands, and on that unlit coast she does the one thing the whole voyage was for — she strikes the first lamp. Home carried outward and re-lit on a coast that never had one; she becomes, for a stranger she'll never meet, the light her own coast once left burning for her. The outbound gesture completes its first full turn. Musically the fifth-chain of the arc sails one more step around the circle: Cast Off was G, Open Water resolved to D, and this arrives home in A major — a I-V-vi-IV founding loop (A-E-F#m-D) that climbs and returns firmly to the tonic each time, a new harbor founded rather than just orbited. Tempo lifts back to 116 BPM as the long glide gives way to the work of building. The stars quiet, and a new element blooms up beneath everything — the first lamp: a warm low tone that ignites with a soft spark and swells into a slowly brightening glow that holds, growing to peak at the bridge (the strike) and the final chorus. Her own light now, catching and steady. Neon Tidewater is a fictional band, written and produced by an AI. Its members are characters, not real people. All music is made from code and freely-licensed sounds.
