Aura Gold is a radiant, cross-continental body of work that captures what happens when freedom, collaboration, and self-truth collide. Created between North Carolina and Finland, the EP is both deeply personal and expansively global. It’s an exploration of love, self-reclamation, and the courage to shine without apology.
At its core, Aura Gold is a celebration of international exchange. BeMyFiasco and producer Misha, two artists from very different worlds, met the way modern musical soulmates often do: online. Their collaboration echoes the legacy of The Foreign Exchange, where Phonte and Nicolay bridged continents to create timeless music rooted in trust and shared vision. More than twenty years later, BeMyFiasco began a similar journey from the same North Carolina soil, this time trading emails and ideas with Misha, ultimately leading her to Finland to create in community with local musicians. What emerged was not just an EP, but a shared language.
The project began in Finland with musicians cocabona (bass) and his brother Ville-Veikko (guitar), and the first song recorded ‘Back to Myself’ set the emotional compass for everything that followed. At the time, BeMyFiasco was living a double life: outwardly thriving as an artist, inwardly disconnected and constrained by a job that dimmed her spirit. The words poured out effortlessly, heavy yet freeing, carried by warm instrumentation that felt like an exhale. That song became the foundation for an EP about shedding masks, choosing alignment, and honoring inner truth.
Sonically, Aura Gold is a melting pot of eras and genres. Drawing from 70s funk and soul, 90s R&B and Hip-Hop, Afrobeats, Amapiano, and modern pop sensibilities, the EP resists confinement. Misha’s production reflects his wide-ranging influences, anchored in groove but adventurous in texture, while BeMyFiasco’s songwriting pulls directly from lived experience, love, and transformation. Together, they create music that feels nostalgic and forward-facing all at once.
Beyond the music, Aura Gold marks a real-life shift. Shortly after returning from Finland, BeMyFiasco was unexpectedly let go from her university job ––an ending that opened the door to full-time artistry. The EP stands as a testament to that leap of faith.
More than a collection of songs, Aura Gold is a reminder to honor your light, trust your path, and let connection carry you forward.
