Gurdjieff / Hartmann Legacy - N8 (The Great Prayer)

By Violin Soundscapes
103 Plays

Movement No. 8, known as The Great Prayer or Dervishes with Counting, is one of the most profound and symbolically rich of G. I. Gurdjieff's Sacred Movements created by G. I. Gurdjieff and Thomas de Hartmann in the early 1920s. Unlike ordinary dance, The Great Prayer was designed as a practical exercise in "attention, presence, and self-remembering". The dancers performed precise movements while counting aloud, creating a demanding practice of divided attention that lies at the heart of Gurdjieff's Fourth Way. Performed by Anna Konoplyova
