Sometimes in my lyrics I like to juxtapose oppositional ideas, or explore points of view that are difficult for me to adopt. This song's "I'm out for me" in the hook is one of those lines. In what ways does my selfishness benefit the whole? In what ways are my selfishness shortsighted and harmful for me or others. Lots to ponder.
Lyrics:
forget your party
I'll admit it, I'm a homebody
this street life's for somebody else
find me in a library
mental health section
remember days when i wished i'd brought protection
i assume they're strapped
i assume it's loaded
i assume they fight dirty
fear and loathing
when business gets heated
the hustle gets lethal
conflicts like death wishes
i keep tellin these people
they ain't playin, and I ain't rollin deep
What they call cowardice
I call bein' discreet
ungh - take em to the cleaners
take em to the bank
we so ruthless
we can't be defeated
we can't be defeated
facts, we aint even playin
keep your dignity i'm out for me
I'm just sayin
