I’d like to dedicate this song as a tribute to my late music partner, Hans Ottsen. We always performed this as an instrumental, and I wanted to share with you my love for the words. Since the pandemic, I’ve been listening to the great jazz women of the past. These include: Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, and Dinah Washington. I’m learning so much from their recordings, whether it’s the classic 1950s, or their final decades.
For the piano sound, I chose the new Nord Felt Upright, extra large sample, which I downloaded around March. To make the piano sound like a grand, I selected the bright filter on my Nord Grand 88. It’s the perfect piano sound for getting that stripped down, laid-back sound, like the classic recordings of the 1950s.
Hope you’ll enjoy it.
