The family never chose to become part of a royal secret. Living in exile themselves, they are forced by an old debt to take in a nameless child, hide his origins and make sure the past cannot follow him. What begins as obligation slowly becomes something no command had planned: a real family.
They are neither fearless nor heroic. They know what discovery could cost them, and fear shapes many of their choices. But over the years the boy stops being a burden entrusted to them and becomes one of their own. When obedience and loyalty to him finally come into conflict, blood proves to be only one way a family can be made.
