Glenn Chugg - My Spoons

By Glenn Chugg
7 Plays

Meaning: Spoon theory turned into a full economic system — every task has a cost, and the song is an honest accounting of a budget that never balances. Technical: No dedicated Suno style prompt exists for this one yet. On the page it belongs with the catalogue's other single-metaphor confessional pieces (Dead Air, Background Extra, Out Of Spec) — sparse, image-driven verses building into a plainspoken chorus. Read: Airtight, and the strongest single image in it is the one most worth building the production around: "you wouldn't ask a car with an empty tank to drive, but you'll ask me to smile and show up like I'm running full and fine." The bridge does real work too — "for years I thought I was just weak... then somebody said, 'you've just got fewer spoons,' and suddenly my whole life made sense" is the clearest single description in the catalogue of what it feels like to finally get the right vocabulary for something you've been carrying alone. "I'm not lazy, I'm not broken, I'm just counting my spoons" is the version of the chorus hook that recurs as a catalogue-wide motif, echoed later almost verbatim in All The Fragments Of Me.
